Designing a world where materials
decompose like nature intended.

Acrion is a research-led advanced materials company working at the intersection of biotechnology and polymer science. The challenge was not just to create a visual identity, but to define how such a company should be perceived.
In a space often dominated by exaggerated sustainability narratives and visual clichés, the objective was to establish Acrion as a credible, research-first organisation. The brand needed to communicate depth, restraint, and long-term intent, without relying on overt symbolism or marketing-driven language.
The foundation of the brand was built around the idea of Biosynthesis - not as a descriptor, but as a mindset. It reflects a way of designing materials as part of a larger system, where creation and decomposition are inherently connected.
This thinking informed both the narrative and the visual language. The identity was deliberately kept minimal, structured, and precise, avoiding expressive or decorative elements. Typography, colour, and layout were carefully controlled to reflect scientific rigor and stability. Rather than amplifying sustainability claims, the approach focused on quiet credibility, allowing the research and intent to
define perception over time.
Montserrat
Montserrat’s geometric clarity and neutrality reinforce Acrion’s research-led positioning. Precise, contemporary, and quietly confident without unnecessary expression or visual noise.

The resulting identity positions Acrion as a research authority, not a sustainability-led brand. It communicates a sense of calm confidence, where design supports understanding, rather than demanding attention.

Acrion’s work focuses on two key directions: developing thermoplastic materials derived entirely from waste, and enzyme-based solutions that enable plastics to biodegrade without leaving microplastics. These initiatives reinforce a larger ambition - to move from linear consumption to circular material systems.

The brand is designed to build trust gradually through clarity, consistency, and the strength of its thinking, establishing Acrion as a serious, global player in sustainable materials research.
